Protests, road blockades demanding Madaripur not to be included into propsed Faridpur Division

Leaders and activists of various social and youth organizations in Madaripur district held a protest march and road blockade program demanding that the boundaries of Madaripur district not be included in Faridpur.
The program was held at the Mustafapur bus stand area of Madaripur on Tuesday morning.
The protesters said, "The proposal to shrink the boundaries of Madaripur district and merge it with Faridpur is against the interests of the local people. If implemented, it will have a negative impact on the district's heritage, administrative structure, and public life."
Present at the program were Md. Rubel Mahmud July, one of the leaders of the freedom fighters, Zahirul Islam Sunny, founding president of 'Swapn Chura Tarunya Sangha', former chief organizer of the Madaripur district branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and district executive member of the Jatiya Nagorik Party, Hafez Md. Abdur Rahim, former joint convener of the organization, Ashiqul Tamim Ashiq, and Neyamul Hossain July Yoddha, among many others.
The speakers also said, "No decision on the boundaries of Madaripur is acceptable without the opinion of the people. If necessary, a larger movement will be launched to protect the integrity and dignity of the district."
After the protest, the participants blocked the Madaripur-Barisal regional highway for about an hour, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Later, the situation normalized with the intervention of the administration.
