A fair price shop has been opened in Brahmanbaria organized by anti-discrimination student movement on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

This shop was opened in front of the gate of the Jatiya Bir Abdul Quddus Makhon Municipal Mukta Mancha Maidan in the local Bangabandhu Square.

At least 20 types of products including onions, garlic, chickpeas, soybean oil, mustard oil, peas, dates, muri, musri dal, khesari dal are being sold at fair prices. Although the shop was opened three days ago, sales have started in full swing in the shop since Saturday.

On Saturday at 11 am, a huge crowd of buyers was seen in front of the shop. As the day progressed, the crowd in the shop started increasing. All types of products were sold from noon. The names of interested buyers were recorded earlier. However, buyers are able to buy products without having their names written down. Buyers are also quite happy to be able to buy products at a lower price than the market.

Sellers say they are also very happy to be able to serve the common people. Md. Sharif Hossain, who came to the shop to buy dates, said, "I was able to buy them at a lower price of 50 taka per kg from the market at this shop. I will write down my name to buy other products and come and pick them up later." The initiative that the students have taken for us is certainly commendable.

Md. Atiqur Rahman, a representative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, "We want to continue this activity throughout the month of Ramadan. This initiative is ours so that products are not sold at high prices in the market and we can deliver them to the buyers at a fair price."
