There have been allegations of extreme corruption in the construction of Narsingdi District Jail, a contractor named Bishwas Trading and Construction has absconded with a bill of 15 crore taka without doing any work.

The contractor, a friend of the fascist government, has embezzled 15 crore taka through corruption in connivance with the executive engineer of the Narsingdi Public Works Department. There is a storm of discussion and criticism among the conscious circles of Narsingdi, contractors and government office officials. There is a public labor.

The executive engineer of the Narsingdi Public Works Department, ASM Musa, has bought a luxurious flat worth about 2 crore taka in the capital Dhaka with a share of the corruption money from the contractor. Although the matter was kept secret for some time, the matter of corruption began to come to light as the work of the under-construction jail was stopped, there was a fear that the work would not be completed on time and no one from the contractor could be found.

It was found that Biswas Trading and Construction participated in the tender for the under-construction Narsingdi District Jail and got the work worth Tk 67 crore. It raised a bill of about Tk 50 crore for the work. During the inspection, the authorities of the Public Works Department found that out of the Tk 50 crore work, about Tk 35 crore had been completed. The additional Tk 15 crore was embezzled without completing the work in connivance with the District Executive Engineer. As the contractor escaped after embezzling crores of Tk through irregularities and corruption, the authorities have recommended the cancellation of the license of the contracting company for 2 years after investigation.

Narsingdi Public Works Department Executive Engineer ASM Musa is known to all in Narsingdi as an Awami fascist. During the fascist government, he has embezzled crores of taka through corruption, including rewarding Awami League people with work as he pleases.

Experienced circles have expressed the opinion that the work of the newly built Narsingdi District Jail will not be completed on time due to his irregularities. Even during the current government, the engineer is in regular contact with the fascists.
