Effective research for industrial revolution stressed

In the context of the fourth industrial revolution, the relevant researchers have to do a lot of research for the sustainable production, growth and development of livestock to meet the demand for safe animal meat.

Ensuring food safety should be given utmost importance. Use of safe technology for safe food production should be looked at. Besides, the technologies should be made available at the field level and delivered to the doorstep of the farmers.

BAU VC Prof. Dr. Lutful Hassan said this in the speech of chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 29th International Scientific Conference.

It was organized by Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education and Research (BSVER) under the theme 'Sustainable improvement in health and production of livestock in the context of 4th industrial revolution'. The conference was inaugurated at 10 o'clock on Saturday in the university's Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium.

He further said, Food grain production has increased in the country. Sustainable prosperity must be achieved through proper marketing of the produce. The fifth industrial revolution is not too late. So we need to increase our technical knowledge and skills. Before the next industrial revolution, we need to reduce our import dependence and increase the production of export-oriented products. For this, he called upon the government and private institutions to work together.

In the presidency of Prof. Dr. Farida Yasmin Bari and conduction of Prof. Dr. Md. Ariful Islaml, The Dean of Veterinary Faculty, Prof. Md. Abdul Awal was present as special guest in the conference.

The former Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) Nathuram Sarkar and former teacher of Pathology Department Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Hossain and others also present as a guest. Professor of Pathology Department of BAU Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam presented the main article in the opening ceremony.

Retired teacher of pathology department and founder vice-chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Hussain was presented with the Annual Lecture Award. Retired teacher of Department of Surgery and Obstetrics and former Vice-Chancellor of BAU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hussain was awarded a lifetime award for his outstanding contribution to veterinary research and education.

It is notted that, a total of 70 oral presentations and 84 poster papers will be presented in that scientific conference.
