Dump truck hits electricity pole, breaks it into three pieces, power outage for 11-hr

A PDB electricity pole broke into three pieces after being hit by a dump truck in the Islam Market area of Ward No. 11 of Lakshmipur Municipality. This caused extensive damage to the 33,000 volt, 11,000 volt and four-forty line electric wires and infrastructure.
The power supply in the area was cut off for about 11 hours after the accident.
The incident occurred on Tuesday around 5 am along the Dhaka-Raipur highway.
It was learned from locals and concerned people that the dump truck lost control and hit an electricity pole on the side of the road. The pole broke into three pieces. At the same time, various electric wires were torn and disconnected, causing extensive damage.
Sabuj, a contractor for the electricity department, said the dump truck was speeding and lost control and hit an electricity pole. This caused extensive damage to the power line, including the pole breaking. It will take time to repair the damaged poles and wires and restore power.
Residents and businessmen in the area have suffered due to the incident. Work is underway to quickly repair the damaged electricity infrastructure and normalize the connection.
