
DU Population Sciences Department freshers' reception held

The freshmen reception of the first-year undergraduate program students of the Population Sciences Department of Dhaka University was held on Thursday at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event.
The event was presided over by the Departmental Chairman Professor AHM Kishore Hossain, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr. Taiyebur Rahman spoke as special guests. Assistant Prof of the Department Shafayat Sultan delivered the welcome address. The event was hosted by the students of the department, Prabati Roy and Abdullah Al Masrur Hamim.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan congratulated the fresh students for getting admission in Dhaka University and said that to develop as skilled human resources, students need to build strong networks at the national and international levels. He urged the students to establish good relationships with people, acquire proficiency in at least one foreign language and be aware of various national and international issues.
He said that besides studies, there is a great opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities here. We have to utilize that opportunity and prepare ourselves. He emphasized on further strengthening the relationship between the university and the parents.
