DU 'Science Unit' admission test held peacefully

The admission test for the 1st year undergraduate program of the 'Science Unit' of Dhaka University for the 2024-2025 academic year was held on Saturday in a fair and peaceful manner.

This admission test was held in 7 other divisional cities of the country including the Dhaka University campus. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan visited the Curzon Hall examination center.

At this time, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr. Abdus Salam and Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed were present.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed satisfaction that the admission test was held in a fair and peaceful manner. He said that about 78 students are competing against each seat in the admission test of the science unit. Many students will not get admission through this very competitive test. However, this test will help them increase their confidence in preparing for other exams. Parents should be aware that students should not be subjected to mental trauma in any way if they do not get admission.

It is mentioned that 146,811 students have applied for admission in this unit against a total of 1,896 seats. This year, 138,848 students have applied from the science branch, 7,900 from the humanities branch and 8,73 from the business education branch. Out of the total 1,896 seats in this unit, 1,820 are for the science branch, 51 for the humanities branch and 25 for the business education branch.
