Discussion meet between upazila health officer, journalists held in Morelganj

A discussion meeting between journalists and the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer was held in Morelganj, Bagerhat. The meeting took place on Tuesday at 11 AM in the office of the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer.
At the invitation of Dr. Mujahidul Islam, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, the meeting was attended by H.M. Shahidul Islam, President of Morelganj Upazila Press Club, along with other press club journalists.
Dr. Nadiruzzaman Akash (RMO), Chief Assistant Dr. Matubbar Redwan Ahmed, Sanitary Inspector Md. Riazul Islam, Medical Technologist Md. Shafiqul Islam, Pharmacist Md. Hemayet, Assistant Health Inspector Md. Elias Hossain, and Health Assistant Md. Riazul Haque Talukder were also present.
The meeting focused on the ongoing activities, challenges, and developmental aspects of the Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Mujahidul Islam highlighted the shortage of sufficient doctors, nurses, and specialist physicians in the hospital. He also mentioned that due to the lack of necessary medical equipment, providing adequate treatment to patients is becoming difficult.
Furthermore, he pointed out that structural limitations of the hospital lead to a shortage of beds, often causing space constraints for patients. The absence of a well-equipped emergency department and operation theater restricts the ability to perform major surgeries. Additionally, the residential quarters for doctors are in a deteriorated state, making them unsuitable for living.
The Upazila Health Officer urged the relevant authorities to address these issues and sought the support of journalists in improving hospital services. He expressed optimism that if the administration and media work together, the development of Morelganj Upazila Health Complex would accelerate.
The attending journalists and other participants pledged to collaborate in enhancing the local healthcare system. They also called for increased support from the administration and local community to improve the healthcare sector.
