
Dhaka University Day to be celebrated on July 1

The 105th Dhaka University Day will be celebrated on Tuesday ( July 1). This year, the theme of the day is 'Dhaka University in Building a Non-Discriminatory and Inclusive Society'.
A colourful day-long program has been organized on this occasion.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan will be present as the chief guest at 10 am on July 1 at Payra Square in front of the Student-Teacher Center and will formally inaugurate various programs of the University Day.
According to the program, on July 1 at 9.30 am, teachers, students, officials and employees from all the halls and hostels of the university will gather at Smriti Chirantan Chattar in a procession. From there, at 9.45 am, a colorful procession will be taken out on the campus led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. Teachers, students, alumni, officials and employees of the university will participate in the procession.
At 10 am, the national flag, flags of the university and halls will be hoisted and a cake will be cut in the inaugural ceremony at the Payra Chattar in front of the Student-Teacher Center. During this time, the national anthem and inspiring patriotic songs will be performed with the participation of teachers and students of the music department. In addition, another song will be performed with the participation of foreign students.
A discussion meeting titled 'Dhaka University in Building a Non-Discriminatory and Inclusive Society' will be held at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium at 10.30 am. The keynote address will be presented by Professor Dr. S. M. A. Faiz, Chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will be present as guests of honor in the discussion meeting to be held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. Members of the university's Senate and Syndicate, deans of various faculties, principals of various halls, chairmen of various departments, teachers, students, alumni and officials will participate in the discussion meeting.
At the beginning of the discussion meeting, the 'Memorial' published to mark the day will be unveiled.
To celebrate the day, various important structures and roads, including the Vice-Chancellor's Building, Curzon Hall, Kala Bhavan, and the Student-Teacher Center, will be illuminated.
Classes will be closed from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on July 1 to celebrate Dhaka University Day, but exams will be held as usual.
It is worth noting that the educational activities of Dhaka University began on July 1, 1921.
