UK Bureau

A protest meeting was held by the UK Awami League Wales branch on Wednesday at 8 pm London time at a restaurant on City Road in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, to protest the vandalism, arson and militant attack on "the Bangabandhu Museum, the birthplace of all struggles, the birthplace of Bengali freedom and the memory of the personal and political life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Mujib".

The meeting was chaired by the central member of the UK Awami League, former student leader Mohammad Makis Mansur, president of Wales Awami League and former student leader

and was moderated by the general secretary of Wales Awami League, former student leader

M.A. Malik. The meeting was addressed by the vice-president of Wales Awami League Saiful Islam Nazrul, vice-president S.A. Rahman Madhu, joint general secretary Golam Mortuza, Joint General Secretary Alhaj Liaquat Ali, Organizing Secretary Mallik Mosaddek Ahmed, Office Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Anwar, Legal Affairs Secretary Harun Talukder,

Former President of Wales Jubo League Joynal Ahmed Shibul, Former Student Leader Abdul Wahid Babul, President of Wales Bangabandhu Parishad Alhaj Chalik Mia, General Secretary Syed Iqbal Ahmed, Akhtaruzzaman Qureshi Nipu, Alamgir Alam, President of Wales Tati League Jamal Ahmed Bakul, President of Wales Sechchhasebak League Haji Jewel Mia, General Secretary of Wales Sramik League SA Khan Lenin, President of Wales Jubo League VP Selim Ahmed, General Secretary Mofiqul Islam, Senior Vice President Abul Kalam Mumin, Vice President Rakibur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AB Runel, Selim Chowdhury, President of Wales Chhatra League Mohammad Badrul Haque Mansur, and General Secretary Shah Jahan Talukder Shaon, former student leader Mohammad Faisal Mansur, former student leader Russell Ahmed, former youth leader Sajal Ahmed, Moula Aftab, MA Rouf, Kawsar Hossain, Samadul Haque and Shamim Ahmed, among other leaders, spoke.

"The Father of the Nation declared independence from this house. You can destroy the building, but you cannot erase history. By setting fire to number 32, you have wounded the hearts of the followers of Bangabandhu's ideals," said Wales Awami League President and former student leader Mohammad Makis Mansur in his speech. Dhanmondi 32 is the heart of Bangladesh!" Thirty-two is the emotion of Bengal; each brick is a history. "With the help of the state, the house number 32 of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, the cradle of independent Bangladesh, is being demolished.

You will have to take it. Every speck of dust in Dhanmondi 32 will speak one day," Dhanmondi 32 is not just an address, it is a symbol of the dreams, struggle and inspiration of freedom-loving Bengalis. History can never be erased, house number 32 in Dhanmondi is one of the focal points of the 1966 Six-Point Movement, the 1969 mass uprising, the 1970 elections and the 1971 War of Independence.

Attacking this house means attacking the history of the Liberation War. The feelings, ideals and consciousness of every patriotic person in Bengal are associated with the house. Attacking this house means attacking the heart of every pure Bengali, he said, expressing his deep hatred for this heinous incident.

Mentioning that every house in Bangladesh will be Dhanmondi 32, Wales Awami League General Secretary and former student leader M.A. Malik said, "As part of that deep conspiracy with the direct support of the government, the anti-independence evil forces and their vicious offspring vandalized the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban at number 32 and the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of it again today. This is clearly a criminal crime. But there is no place for justice in today's lack of justice in Bangladesh. We want to strongly protest against this by awakening the feelings of the people and call on all the forces and people in favor of the liberation war, including the leaders and activists of the Awami League, to hold continuous protests and demonstrations nationwide."
