Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Dr. Vidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar said that defective primary education affects the overall situation of the country.

To improve the country, primary education must be accelerated. For this, everyone needs to play a role from their own position.

He said this in a view exchange meeting with departmental level officials organized by the divisional commissioner's office in Sylhet on Sunday.

He said, primary education is the most essential aspect of education and the nation is the richest in manpower. No real initiative has ever been taken on how to turn this private resource into a public resource. If it had been taken then surely primary education would not have been in this condition.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General and Revenue) Devjit Singh presided over the meeting. Special guests were Additional Secretary (Budget and Audit) of Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Sakhawat Hossain and Additional Director General (Additional Secretary) Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman.

In response to questions from reporters at the meeting, the adviser said that in the changed situation, some changes and modifications had to be made in the primary level books. Due to this there is some delay in making the books. However, he expressed hope to distribute the textbooks to all primary level students at the beginning of the year.

Mentioning that the demand of elementary assistant teachers to implement the tenth grade is not unreasonable, the advisor of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that it is not realistic to give them the tenth grade at the moment. The current aim of the Interim Government is to ensure Grade 10 of Headmasters as well as to create the post of Assistant Headmasters.

The consent of the Ministry of Public Administration has been obtained for the creation of 9 thousand 572 posts of Assistant Headmaster. There assistant teachers will get 100% promotion and become head teachers.

Later, the adviser participated in the 'Workshop on Designing for the Next Sector Program PEDP-5' at a hotel in the city.
