Carrying the slogan "Agriculture, the Day and Night Dream of Pirojpur", the person who wishes to bring smiles to the farmers of Pirojpur is none other than the Deputy  Commissioner of Pirojpur Mohammad Ashraful Alam Khan.

In the char region of Pirojpur, particularly in Char Saidkhali, has inspired farmers to cultivate various crops on previously fallow land, winning their hearts and triggering an agricultural revolution in the district.

While talking to this  correspondent, the Deputy  Commissioner said,  Pirojpur is a district full of potential and srrounded by rivers, new chars have emerged along the riverbanks.

The primary sources of income for the people living along these riverbanks are agriculture and fishing.

"Since joining  in this district, I have emphasized these two sectors. I want not a single inch of land to remain barren. Every inch should be used for crop production.
The farmers here will become self-reliant and independent through their work — that is my goal," the DC  stated.

DC Mohammad Ashraful Alam Khan also said that four months ago, he experimentally distributed some watermelon seeds among the farmers of the char.

Upon visiting, he found that large watermelons had grown there, each weighing between 8 to 10 kilograms.

"Truly, everything is possible with effort. I dream of the day when all kinds of crops will be cultivated in Pirojpur’s char regions. I will bring smiles to the farmers’ faces," he added. 

DC Ashraful Alam Khan further mentioned that fish farming in floating cages in the river is possible, and that projects are being undertaken through the Fisheries Department to make this a reality.

"Through the combined efforts of everyone, Pirojpur will become a prosperous district rich in winter crops and fisheries," he concluded.
