The “Cute 1st Division Men’s Handball League” was inaugurated in Narail on Thursday.
The competition was organized by the District Sports Association at the Narail Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Stadium under the overall management of the Bangladesh Handball Federation and sponsored by Mousumi Industries Limited (Cute). Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Lincoln Biswas was present as chief guest.
Before the inauguration, a rally started from the stadium and went around the main roads of the city and ended at the same place. In the inaugural match, Young Pegasus Club defeated Tushar Smriti Sangsad by 7-0 goals.
District Sports Officer and District Sports Association Member-Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman presided over the meeting.
Sayeed Ahmed, coordinator of the Cute District-based Handball League and joint member-secretary of the Technical Committee of the Bangladesh Handball Federation, District Sports Association member and Narail Press Club Joint General Secretary Md. Al Amin, District Sports Association member Motassin Billah and Narail Press Club Office Secretary Md. Nurunnabi Samdani, District Sports Association officials, journalists, players and many others were present at the meeting.
In his speech as the chief guest, Lincoln Biswas said, “Handball is not yet well known in Bangladesh. However, it is possible to popularize this game through regular practice.”
A total of 24 clubs are participating in this Cute District-based Handball (Men) League. This 11-day competition will be held until September 14.
