Controversial UNO who imprisoned journalist transferred to Pirgachha

The controversial Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Mohammad Russel, who imprisoned a journalist in Satkhira, has been transferred to Pirgachha Upazila in Rangpur.
This information was given in a notification issued by the Rangpur Divisional Office on July 8.
The notification said that after the posting, he will serve as an Executive Magistrate in the relevant area and has been given powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. In addition, he has been given the responsibility of handling certificate cases.
It is worth noting that on April 21, UNO Sheikh Russell faced criticism across the country for sentencing Kaler Kantho journalist Rokonuzzaman Tipu to prison in Tala Upazila of Satkhira through a mobile court. Journalist Tipu was released on bail from Satkhira District Jail on the afternoon of April 24.
After this incident, on May 5, he was posted as Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Rangpur division and a notification was issued. Earlier, on June 25, Pirgachha UNO Nazmul Haque Sumon was posted as Thakurgaon ADC. He was accused of embezzling Tk 10 crore from the Ashrayan project. When news of this was published in various media outlets, the ACC has taken up the field to investigate.
Meanwhile, people who have been discussed and criticized for controversial activities have been posted in Rangpur at different times. This time, UNO Sheikh Russell has received mixed reactions from various quarters.
