Construction of wall by encroaching on government canal in Louhajang

A complaint has been received that a wall has been built on the canal where canal excavation work has started to protect agricultural land.
On the spot it was seen that on Tuesday (March 25), Md. Ujjal Dhali, son of late Ajibar Dhali of Ward No. 7 of Kanaksar Union of Louhajang Upazila, was encroaching on the government canal and building a wall. This government canal, which drains water from the Padma River in Kanaksar Union through Kathpatti Bridge through Dhitpur and Kalabagan, is currently closed for the construction of a highway bridge. He is taking this opportunity to build a wall on the government canal. Due to this, the government canal is continuously getting smaller. There is a possibility of extensive damage to 30/35 hectares of agricultural land. Because if water cannot enter and exit the agricultural lands on time, crops cannot be planted on time and there is a possibility of low yields. Speaking to a few people who do not wish to be named publicly, they said that there is a lot of agricultural land in the wards (1,5,7.9) of Kanaksar Union, most of which is used for paddy cultivation. No one can answer exactly how much there is.
In this regard, Md. Ujjal Dhali said, "The canal was destroyed along with my land during excavation. I am adding my land size and keeping a part of the canal (about one foot) and then constructing the old one. This land does not belong to me alone, my cousin Rajib Dhali is the news anchor of Baishakhi TV. If anyone wants to challenge the land, they can do so.
Louhajang Upazila Senior Agriculture Officer said that if the canal, which flows through Kathpatri, Dhitpur and Kalabagan of Kanaksar Union, is obstructed, it will cause problems in the production of crops on about 30 hectares of land. This is likely to affect the farmers' crop production. Therefore, I am talking to a senior officer about this and taking action.
Louhajang UNO Md. Nesar Uddin said, there is no scope for building a wall in the canal area. Action will be taken after investigation.
