Coast Guard seized smuggled Indian goods worth Tk 55.89 lakh in Postogola

The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized a large consignment of smuggled Indian goods valued at approximately Tk 55.89 lakh and arrested one suspect during an operation near the Postogola Bridge in the capital.
The details were disclosed on Sunday afternoon by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan in a press release.
Acting on a secret tip-off, a special team from Coast Guard Station Pagla conducted a three-hour drive starting at 7:00 PM on Saturday near the Postogola Bridge area. Officers intercepted and searched a suspicious mini covered van, recovering illegally imported Indian energy drinks, sunglasses, basmati rice, and natural herbal resin (Himalayan Shilajit Resin).
The vehicle used to transport the smuggled merchandise was also impounded, and one individual involved in the operation was detained at the scene.
The seized goods and the covered van have been handed over to the Banshal Circle Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate. Legal proceedings against the arrested individual are currently underway.
The Coast Guard reaffirmed that its operations to prevent cross-border smuggling will continue in full force, ths press release added.
