Coast Guard drive : Notorious dacoit Swapan, head of 'Swapan Bahini ' held with local firearms in Monpura

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested Swapan, the notorious leader of the dacoit syndicate "Swapan Bahini," along with native firearms during a special operation in the Monpura upazila of Bhola district.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer informed this on Wednesday night.
According to the media officer, based on intelligence inputs, Coast Guard Base Bhola and Outpost Monpura jointly conducted a special operation starting from 11:00 PM on July 21 until 3:00 PM on July 22 at the Macher Ghat Bazar area adjacent to Kazirchar under Monpura police station. During the raid, the notorious dacoit leader Swapan was apprehended from the area.
Acting on information provided by the detainee, a subsequent search was conducted at a local fish warehouse, leading to the recovery of one single-barrel native gun and eight other native weapons.
The arrested dacoit, 50-year-old Swapan, is a resident of the Hazirhat area in Monpura police station, Bhola. Authorities noted that he has long operated as the head of the infamous "Swapan Bahini," orchestrating various terrorist and dacoity activities in the region, and currently faces multiple criminal cases.
Legal proceedings regarding the seized evidence and the arrested dacoit have been taken. The Coast Guard reaffirmed that its operations will continue to maintain stability across the country's law and order situation.
