
Coast Guard, Navy joint drive in Baharchhara,Teknaf : 21 people including women, children rescued from captive for trafficking

In a joint operation by the Coast Guard and the Navy in the remote hills of Baharchhara in Teknaf on Thursday, 21 people including women and children who were held captive for trafficking were rescued.
Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque confirmed this information through a press release on Thursday morning.
According to the press release, based on intelligence information, it was learned that several individuals, including women and children, were being held captive in a house near Karachi Para Ghat in Baharchhara, Teknaf, with the intention of being trafficked to Malaysia by sea. Based on this information, a joint operation was conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and the Navy at 11 PM on Wednesday night. During the operation, members of the Coast Guard and Navy rescued 21 individuals, including women and children, from a secret hideout of traffickers near Karachi Para Ghat in Baharchhara, Teknaf.
During the operation, the traffickers managed to flee upon sensing the presence of the joint forces, so no one could be arrested. Intelligence surveillance and operations by the Navy and Coast Guard are ongoing to apprehend them.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent human trafficking.
