Coast Guard, DNC joint drive : 55,000 pieces of yaba seized in Cox's Bazar

A joint anti-narcotics operation led by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) successfully seized 55,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila yesterday.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Media Officer at Coast Guard Headquarters, said this in a press release on Monday afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, a specialized team from the Coast Guard Station Cox's Bazar and DNC officials conducted a coordinated raid at approximately 3:00 PM in the Jumchhari adjacent area under Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station. During the drive, law enforcement forces broke into a locked apartment room and recovered the massive consignment of abandoned yaba tablets. According to the Coast Guard, the estimated market value of the confiscated contraband is around BDT 2.75 crore.
Legal procedures have been taken to trace the ownership of the apartment and identify the individuals involved in smuggling the narcotics.
The media officer reiterated that the Coast Guard will maintain its aggressive stance and continue such joint operations to neutralize drug trafficking networks across the coastal frontiers.
