China can be one of the export markets for mangoes and jute and jute products produced in Bangladesh, said Yao Wen, the ambassador of China in Dhaka.

He, however, suggested implementing good agricultural practices in the country, product development, conservation, and improving the supply system.

The ambassador said this when he made a courtesy call to the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mahbubul Alam at Gulshan in the capital on Monday.

The ambassador talked about this possibility by praising the quality of mango and jute in Bangladesh.

In response, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said that the work with China will be started soon with all member associations and stakeholders.

He said, “China is one of our important development partners. China's contribution to Bangladesh's socio-economic development is undeniable. Trade relations between the two countries have also improved over the past few decades.”

However, a large trade deficit remains between Bangladesh and China. In such a situation, the FBCCI President urged China to increase imports of goods from Bangladesh and investment in Special Economic Zones.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen assured that the Chinese government will continue its cooperation in the economic development of Bangladesh, including the development of human resources, reduction of trade deficit and elimination of visa complications.

Praising the initiative of establishing 100 special economic zones of Bangladesh, he said that the infrastructure development work of several economic zones has been completed.

Yao Wen said that Chinese entrepreneurs are ready to set up industries in these economic zones if they are provided with fast fuel and water supply.

FBCCI Vice President Md Munir Hossain, Secretary General Md Alamgir, FBCCI International Affairs Wing Consultant Ambassador Moisud Mannan, and First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Chui Yifeng, among others, were present at that time.
