Child abducted over previous enmity rescued from Bogura

A six-year-old child, Borhan, who was allegedly abducted in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha, has been rescued from Shibganj upazila in Bogura district. The child was recovered around 9:30 pm on Wednesday
The victim’s family claimed that the abduction was carried out due to a previous personal dispute.
The rescue was confirmed by Gobindaganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Swapan Kumar Sarkar.
According to police and family sources, Borhan, the six-year-old son of Mithu Mia, went missing from Chashkapara area of Gobindaganj municipality at around 1:00 pm on Wednesday. After searching extensively and failing to locate him, his mother, Bani Begum, filed a written complaint with Gobindaganj Police Station at around 3:00 pm.
In her complaint, she alleged that Arif Mia (25), son of Shafiqul Islam of Ward No. 4 of the municipality, had abducted her son due to a longstanding dispute between the families. Arif is reportedly related to the family through marriage.
Immediately after receiving the complaint, police launched an investigation and conducted searches at various locations. Later that night, Arif Mia was detained in Matirdali area of Shibganj upazila in Bogura. Upon receiving the information, Borhan’s parents went there and recovered their child.
Speaking to reporters, Bani Begum said, “My husband had arranged a rented rickshaw for Arif. Later, he sold the rickshaw and fled. When my husband found him, he slapped him a few times. Since then, Arif had been holding a grudge against us. Out of that resentment, he abducted my young son.”
OC (Investigation) Swapan Kumar Sarkar said, “Police became active immediately after receiving the complaint.
