The police have finally arrested Muhidur Rahman Shawon, the fugitive accused who was warranted in several cases in different police stations including Kulaura of Moulvibazar. On Thursday afternoon, based on secret information, the OC of Kulaura Police Station said. Police led by Golam Apchar and ASI Nripesh Dev arrested him from Sylhet in a raid.The arrested accused, Muhidur Rahman Shawon, is the son of the deceased Muhammad Ali Madhu Mia of Nortan village in Routgaon Union of Kulaura Upazila.It is known that on the night of December 18, 2023, Muhidur Rahman Shawon and his accomplices carried out a surprise attack on the businessman Touhidul Haider, son of the deceased Asoddar Ali of Sherpur village of Brahmanbazar union, on the bridge in Tilashijura village of Routgaon union of the upazila.

Later, businessman Touhidul filed a case (No-18, 20/12/2023) at Kulaura police station accusing Muhidur Rahman Shawon (27), Mujahid Islam (27) and Rubel Mia (42) of the same area in this incident. The police arrested the accused Mujahidul Islam and Rubel Mia and sent them to jail, but one of the accused, Muhidur Rahman Shawon, escaped from the police. Meanwhile, after completing the investigation of the case, the investigating officer of the case, SI Md. Amir Uddin of Kulaura police station, sent the charge sheet to the court.

Later, the court issued an arrest warrant against Muhidur Rahman Shawon. Shawon was reportedly involved in BCL politics. Under the umbrella of Upazila Awami League leader and former chairman of Rautgaon UP, Abdul Muktadir Tufayel, he committed various crimes in the local area.

It is also known that Muhidur Rahman Shawon and Rubel Mia attacked Md Jalil Mia (38), son of deceased Quddus Mia, resident of Hajinagar tea garden area of Rajnagar upazila on Kulaura-Moulvibazar road in Mathiura tea garden area of Rajnagar police station on March 25 this year due to previous enmity.Jalil Mia, the victim of the attack, filed a case (No-17, 28/03/2024) at Rajnagar police station accusing Muhidur Rahman Shawon and Rubel Mia in this incident. Meanwhile, another person named Amir Ali filed another case (No-138/24) against Muhidur Rahman Shawon in Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station.

Apart from this, there are two cases against Muhidur Rahman Shawon in connection with fraud and fighting in Brahmanbaria's Kasba police station. Touhidul Haider, the plaintiff in the case, said, "I filed a case at the Kulaura police station in connection with the attack on me. Muhidur Rahman Shawon and Rubel Miah threatened me with death at different times through the influence of upazila Awami League leader Abdul Muktadir Tufayel, Brahmanbazar Union Awami League leader Saifur Rahman Shahin, banker Enam Uddin to withdraw the case. Shawon Gong even tried to take me by force while leaving Moulvibazar court on March 20. Later on that day I made a general diary at Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station. Shaun was in hiding for a long time. I thank the police administration for arresting him after a long time.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kulaura police station Golam Apchar said that Shawon, the accused under the warrant, was hiding in Sylhet for a long time. Finally, it was possible to arrest him in a police operation. Accused Shawon was sent to court on Friday afternoon.
