
Chatro Front activist arrested with firearms in joint operation in Sonagazi

In a joint operation conducted by police and army personnel in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, a local activist of the opposition student wing, Ibrahim Khalil Sohag (32), was arrested with a homemade pipe gun and two rounds of ammunition.
Sohag is a resident of Chargopalgong village in Charmozlishpur Union, and the son of Kamal Uddin from Sherajul Haque Pandit Bari. Joint forces arrested him on Tuesday afternoon during a raid at Sohag’s residence.
Law enforcers recovered a locally-made firearm and two live bullets from his possession. Authorities also confirmed that Sohag has a prior case filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.However, Mosharraf Hossain Riyad, president of the Charmozlishpur Union unit of Chhatra Dal (the student wing of BNP), claimed that Sohag has no affiliation with their organization. “As far as we know, he was never involved with Chhatra Dal or any associate bodies of the BNP. He had a history of drug abuse,”
Riyad said.Bayezid Akon, OC of Sonagazi Model Police Station said, a case under the Arms Act is currently being processed.
