Don't consider Jubo Dal as rival: Abdul Monayem Munna

Md. Abdul Qaiyum , Moulvibazar

Addressing BNP leaders, the president of the central Jubo Dal, Abdul Monayem Munna, said, "Do not consider the leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal as rivals, they are your brothers. Support them." The honorable Prime Minister, however, has repeatedly said in the party's parliamentary meeting that the distance between the party leaders and activists should be reduced.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the District Jubo Dal on the occasion of the 48th founding anniversary of the Jubo Dal at the Moulvibazar District Shilpakala Academy on Thursday night.

He said, "I have not excluded the party's leaders and activists who have sacrificed their lives from the party on the advice of any MP or minister. But in this one place, I try to take the maximum risk. I cannot do it 100 percent, but I try 80 to 90 percent."

Central Jubo Dal Vice President Rafiq Ahmed Dollar addressed the meeting as the keynote speaker, chaired by District Jubo Dal President and Central Jubo Dal Vice President Zakir Hossain Ujjal and moderated by General Secretary MA Mohit.

Moulvibazar District BNP Convener Faizul Karim Mayun, former District BNP General Secretary and District Council Administrator Mizanur Rahman Mizan, District BNP Member Secretary Abdur Rahim Ripon, Convening Committee Member MA Mukit, Maulvi Abdul Wali Siddique, Bakshi Misbah Ur Rahman Rahman, Helu Mia, Fakhrul Islam and BCB Director Sarfaraz Ahmed Sarfu spoke as special guests at the anniversary meeting.

Speaking as the chief guest, Jubo Dal Central President Abdul Monayem Munna said about the July Movement, "Juba Dal leaders and activists bravely confronted fascist Hasina. Therefore, fascist Hasina was targeting Jubo Dal leaders and activists. Our policy in the 24th movement was that Jubo Dal leaders and activists would play a role in the movement from behind in the anti-discrimination movement across the country."

He also said that the current Prime Minister and then Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman participated in the July Movement.
We were always told to do or die. We cannot leave the field, we have to continue the movement in the same way that the movement would be successful in Hasina's downfall. We also tried to follow the party chairman's instructions to the letter. We could not even sleep at night then, many friends had fled. No one except our own brothers and sisters gave us space then. We did not use phones during the movement, the police would track and catch the leaders. At that time, we divided Dhaka into north and south. The leaders risked their lives and protested on the streets. At that time, this leadership of the Jubo Dal was on the field. The leadership of the Jubo Dal brought about Hasina's downfall.

Earlier, on the occasion of the 48th founding anniversary of the Jubo Dal, Abdul Monayem Munna, President of the Central Jubo Dal, inaugurated the program by hoisting the national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons at the Moulvibazar District Shilpakala Academy premises. The party and national anthems were played.
