CAAB engineer killed in Dhaka airport road accident

A senior engineer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) was killed as a bus hit him while he was riding his motorcycle on the airport road near the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Maidul Islam, senior sub-assistant engineer of the CAAB, said Airport Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sumon Chandra Das.
Engineer Maidul sustained severe injuries as the bus struck him first and then collided with the boundary wall of the third terminal around 10 am, according to the SI.
He was rescued and taken to Kurmitola General Hospital immediately, where an attending physician declared him dead.
Later, his body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the police officer.
Police seized the bus, but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, Sumon said.
