
Upazila Parishad election : Symbols alloted for two candidates in Rupganj

In the second phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad election held in Rupganj of Narayanganj, symbols have been allocated between two candidates. District Returning Officer and Additional District Commissioner Saqib Al Rabbi allocated the statue in the Narayanganj District Commissioner's conference room on Thursday afternoon.
In the event, the chairman candidate and executive member of Rupganj Upazila Awami League, Habibur Rahman, was given prayer pen and the former chairman of Rupganj Union Parishad, Abu Hossain, was given a pineapple symbol.
It is to be noted that in the current election, 5 chairman, 4 vice chairman and 4 protected women filed their candidacy for the post of vice chairman, but as other candidates withdrew, two vice chairmen were elected unopposed.
Meanwhile, Rupganj MP former minister Golam Dastgir Gazi's eldest son, Upazila Awami League vice-president Gazi Golam Mortuoza Pappa, Tabibul Qadir Talam, and the discussed casino emperor Don Salim were dropped from pre-selection as candidates.
At present, Habibur Rahman, a candidate for the liberation war, and Abu Hossain, the former chairman, are competing as a chairman in this upazila.
