BUET students continue protest for 2nd day

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students continued their demonstration for the second consecutive day on Saturday to press home their five-point demands and protesting a showdown of BCL activists inside the campus at midnight.
Students of different batches started the demonstration with placards gathering in front of Central Shaheed Minar at 8am.
The students claimed that though the authorities banned student politics on the campus after the brutal murder of Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the university’s electrical and electronics engineering department, but on Thursday night, a group of outsiders (Chhatra League leaders and activists) entered the campus and conducted some political activities inside the campus.
The protesters started the sit-in in front of the Shaheed Minar boycotting their term final exam and classes demanding resignation of the director of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare and permanent expulsion of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim Rabbi.
They held a press conference around 10:30am on the Shaeed Minar premise where they demanded the permanent expulsion of the students who accompanied were alongwith Rabbi during the showdown.
They also want the resignation of director Mizanur Rahman.
The students exposed the name of the others students who were alongwith Rabbi on that night are ASM Anas Ferdous, Mohammad Hasin Arman Nihal, Oniruddho Mazumder, Jahirul Islam Imon and Sayem Mahmud Sajedin Rifat.
BUET authorities on Friday night, cancelled the seat of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim Rabbi, a resident of Titumir hall, and formed a six-member probe body in the wake of students' protest.
