 Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury emphasized on Thursday, September 24, 2026, that while the infrastructural development of educational institutions is necessary, enhancing the quality of education is equally critical.

The Minister made these remarks as the chief guest during foundation stone laying ceremonies and official visits to various educational institutions across Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet on Thursday. 

During his day-long tour, Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury laid the foundation stone for a single-storey building at Pukash High School and a four-storey building at Gurakuchi High School. He also inaugurated a Smart IT Lab at Gowainghat Government College, formally launched the orientation class for XI students, and participated in the anniversary celebration of the college's literary and cultural organization.

Addressing the gathering at Gowainghat Govt  College, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the higher attendance and active participation of female students, while encouraging male students to improve their academic engagement.

Referring to the newly inaugurated ICT facility, Ariful Haque Chowdhury stated that the Smart IT Lab would be expanded further if students demonstrate high engagement in digital learning. He also announced plans to take necessary steps to construct a residential hostel for female students at the college.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Numeri Zaman, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Shamsul Islam, Gowainghat Government College Principal Habibur Rahman, local dignitaries, teachers, and students were present at the events.
