Bangladesh, Russia sign MoU on cultural cooperation in St. Petersburg

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation on Thursday, at the ongoing 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury signed the MoU on behalf of Bangladesh. The agreement emphasizes mutual cultural exchanges, heritage preservation, fine arts, museums, archaeology, expanding creative cooperation, and further solidifying the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Russia.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture of Myanmar U Tin Oo Lwin paid a courtesy call on Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury on Thursday. During the meeting, both ministers held productive discussions on the archaeological sites, Buddhist heritage, cultural unity, and shared historical characteristics of the two nations.
On the second day of the forum on Friday, September 25, 2026, Nitai Roy Chowdhury will deliver the keynote address at a thematic session titled "Folk Artisan Craftwork Rebooted," focusing on the revival of Bangladeshi folk arts, crafts, and the global potential of traditional handlooms and handicrafts. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the forum's plenary session on Friday afternoon.
