
Blended learning important in modernizing country's higher education: BRUR VC

Prof. Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, said that blended learning or mixed learning method is currently being considered as an important and timely initiative in the education sector in Bangladesh universities.
He said that this teaching method combines direct teaching in the classroom and online learning. The blended learning method will play an effective role in making higher education in Bangladesh more efficient, inclusive and of international standards.
The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled 'Innovating University Teaching through Blended Learning: Strategies, Tools and Practices for the Modern Classroom' organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in the virtual classroom of Academic Building-2 on Wednesday morning.
He also said that the successful implementation of the blended learning method in this era of information technology requires the joint efforts of all stakeholders, including the government, university teachers and students.
The workshop was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam, Director of IQAC of Begum Rokeya University. In the workshop, keynote papers on various topics including the application and strategy of the 'blended learning method' were presented by Professor Dr. Mostafa Mahmud Hasan, Dean of the School of Business of Khwaja Yunus Ali University, Bangladesh and Director of IQAC. Teachers from various departments of Begum Rokeya University participated in the workshop. At that time, Additional Director of IQAC of BRUR Dr. Md. Abdul Latif and Dr. Md. Abdur Rakib were present.
