A crucial District Development Coordination Committee meeting was held on Sunday at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium of the Barguna Deputy Commissioner's office.
The session focused on the digital transformation of government departments, the recovery of illegally occupied government land, and the acceleration of public service delivery.
Presided over by Barguna Deputy Commissioner Ms. Taslima Akhtar, the meeting reviewed the progress of regional development projects and addressed administrative challenges. Notable attendees included Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Fattah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Animesh Biswas, Additional District Magistrate Sajal Chandra Shil, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ruhul Amin, alongside other high-ranking administrative officials.
During the meeting, representatives and local leaders highlighted the difficulties faced by the public, with particular emphasis on the recovery of illegally occupied government land—a long-standing demand of the local community. Other key priorities discussed included reducing the backlog of cases in village courts, ensuring timely birth and death registrations, and implementing the ‘e-nothi’ (e-filing) system across all government offices. Speakers, including Advocate Nurul Amin, emphasized the need for accountability and improved coordination among departments to better serve the public.
Deputy Commissioner Taslima Akhtar directed all departments to ensure their official websites are 100% updated and to fully adopt the e-nothi system to improve transparency. Officials from the LGED, Water Development Board, and the Forest Department were instructed to complete ongoing development projects within stipulated deadlines while maintaining strict transparency.
The administration reaffirmed its "zero-tolerance" policy toward land grabbing, stating that government land recovery efforts would be prioritized. The Deputy Commissioner also announced that regular monitoring will be conducted to evaluate the performance of every department at the field level.
The meeting was also attended by District BNP Member Secretary Humayun Hassan Shahin, Senior Joint Convener of District BNP Fazlul Haque Master, Forest Department Official Md. Zahidur Rahman, Barguna Press Club President Md. Hafizur Rahman, and senior journalist and Director of Radio Lokbetar, Monir Hossain Kamal.
Officials concluded the meeting with a commitment to strictly implement the decisions reached, expressing hope that these measures would lead to a positive shift in the district's development indicators and provide citizens with more efficient, transparent, and accessible public services.
