Describing Awami League as the 'biggest Indian product', BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said, "If we can boycott it (Awami League), everything will be done. We have started boycotting. Now, we have to think how to chase it away. Our task will be completed if we can do it. The nation will get its freedom once we can get rid of it. We don't need to boycott other goods."

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion, styled "The Role of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman's in Liberation War and Today's Bangladesh' at Moulana Akram Kha Hall of Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Friday (March 29).Referring to the Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader's remarks that "Had India not been beside us, we could not hold ami, dummy, swami election on January 7."

Citing the role of Ziaur Rahman during the War of Liberation, Gayeshwar asked if Ziaur Rahman was a reader of the proclamation of independence, who was the writer of it? Where is that declaration? BNP doesn't need to make any effort to establish Ziaur Rahman. Ziaur Rahman himself is already established in the heart of the nation and in the history owing to his great deeds. It will never be possible to write the complete history of Bangladesh without Ziaur Rahman. Today's history will never get the recognition of a complete history."

The BNP leader said they have no objection to the 7th March address of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He then said, "Our struggle, this time, is a struggle for our freedom. Our struggle, this time, is a struggle for our independence."

"I fully agree with this utterance, because our struggle for freedom and independence has not yet been over. We are still struggling for that freedom. We are not free now. Our leader Khaleda Zia has still been kept imprisoned. Not only her, we want to free the entire nation. We fought the War of Independence dreaming a dream, but our struggle is yet to be over. It means our desired independence has not been achieved yet," Gayeshwar said.

With 'Antare Momo Shaheed Zia' adviser Dhali Aminul Islam Ripon in the chair, the discussion was moderated by its general secretary Md Shah Alam. It was also addressed by BNP joint secretary general Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, executive committee members Abu Naser Md Rahmatullah, Advocate Rafique Sikder, Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal's senior joint convener Dr Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, among others.
