The Awami League would fulfil its promise by providing employment to the unemployed youth as the party had pledged ahead of the last general election, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Friday.
He said this while inaugurating a cycle rally in front of the Jatiya Sangsad in the capital, marking the 75th founding anniversary of the party. The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) organised the event.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the Awami League is not holding any counter programmes rather the party’s year-long events have already been announced earlier.
Marking the founding anniversary, he said, the party’s all associate organisations would hold programmes gradually.
On 23 June, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the party’s platinum jubilee programme in the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Calling upon the youth to join the Awami League, Quader said those who are trying to find issues to wage movement today by resorting to the anti-India campaign, are walking in the wrong direction again.
