
Accused of sensational Al Amin murder case arrested in Goalando

Goalanda Ghat Police arrested an accused in the sensational murder case of expatriate Al Amin (25) in the Padma River in Devgram Rakhalgachhi area of Goalando Upazila of Rajbari.
The arrested accused is Mega Sardar (47), son of the late Montaj Sardar of Dharai village in Aminpur upazila of Pabna district. The late Al Amin is the son of the late Bakkar Mandal of Ram Narayanpur village in the same district and upazila. He returned to the country from Malaysia four months ago after almost 7 years.
According to police sources, on the afternoon of April 25, Al Amin along with his family went to Khayyam's house in Dhalarchar village, Pabna, to see his bride for his wedding. Later, he went to Rakhalgachi market on the motorcycle of his cousin's husband Mega Sardar. After a while, seven or eight unidentified people, including Shah Ali (30) and Rabiul Islam (35) from Komarpur village in Aminpur upazila of Pabna, came to Rakhalgachi on four motorcycles. Before he could understand anything, they started beating him up randomly. At one point, Al Amin jumped into the river to save his life.
It is known that about 15/16 days ago, some people including Shah Ali demanded a bribe of 1 lakh taka from Al Amin on the pretext of having tea. When the bribe was not paid, Al Amin got into an argument with them. Due to this enmity, he was killed.
Goalando Ghat Police arrested Mega Sardar (47), the second accused in the routine murder case, from the Daulatdia Launch Ghat area at around 11:30 pm on April 26.
Goalando Ghat Police Station OC Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that the arrested accused was sent to the learned court on Sunday. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused involved in the murder.
