
Abduction in Teknaf hills again
Tawhidul Islam, Cox’s Bazar:
An armed group has once again abducted a man from the hills of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.
The incident took place at around 7:00 AM on Monday, according to Farid Ullah, the member of Ward 7 under Baharchhara Union Parishad.
The abducted individual has been identified as Mohammad Delwar (25), son of the late Abdul Karim Mistri from the Marishbunia area.
Farid Ullah stated that three men from the area went into the hills to collect thatch grass in the morning. At that time, an armed group chased them, capturing one while the other two managed to escape. As of now, the abductors have not made any contact. Authorities have been informed of the incident.
Sub-Inspector Shubho Ranjan Saha, in-charge of the Baharchhara Investigation Center, said that they have received reports of the abduction and that police have started working on the matter.
According to data from Cox’s Bazar District Police and the victims’ families, a total of 245 people have been abducted from various areas of Teknaf over the past 15 months.
