
7th Non-Fiction Book Fair begins at DU

A 3-day long 7th Non-Fiction Book Fair started on Tuesday at the Faculty of Business Studies premises under the joint initiative of Dhaka University Business Studies Faculty and Vanik Barta.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal inaugurated this book fair as chief guest.
In the opening ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies. Muhammad Abdul Moin, President of Dhaka University Teachers' Association, Prof. Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, prominent writer and researcher Professor Dr. Anu Muhammad, Prof. Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque, Managing Director of University Press Limited Mahrukh Mohiuddin, Publisher of Time magazine Farid Ahmed and Editor of Banik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud spoke. Dhaka University Senate and Syndicate members, teachers, students and officials of various publishing and research organizations were present on the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal urged the students to read non-fiction books to enrich their knowledge base.
Highlighting the role of both non-fiction and fiction books in creating and distributing new knowledge and building and enriching nations, he said books expand the world of human thought. He thanked those concerned for organizing a non-fiction book fair on the university campus and said that this fair will make teachers and students interested in buying and reading research books on science, technology, economics, politics and history.

It should be noted that 41 publishing houses of the country are participating in the 7th Non-Fiction Book Fair. The fair will be open daily from 10 am to 8 pm. The book fair will end on December 28.
