
6 arrested over banned organization's protest rally in Ashulia

Ashulia police arrested six workers allegedly affiliated with the banned organization Chhatra League for participating in a sudden protest rally in support of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and asking for the resignation of the current interim government.
The group organized a flash protest on the Nabinagar-Chandra Highway in the Sripur area while wearing face masks.
The arrests took place on Tuesday late night during a drive in the Bhadaill-Pabnartek area of Ashulia.
The detainees have been identified as Md. Ibrahim (18), Md. Nazmul Khan (18), another individual also named Md. Ibrahim (18), Abdullah Noyon (18), Md. Ismail Hossain Rony (18), and Md. Tushar Mia (18). All six reportedly reside in rents around the Bhadaill and Pabnartek areas and to be active members of the banned student organization & linked with the Awami League, police sources confirmed.
In a press release, Additional Superintendent of Police (Savar Circle) Md. Shahinur Kabir stated that the six were apprehended in connection with the unauthorized protest. Legal proceedings under the Special Power Act are currently underway at Ashulia Police Station.
Mentioned that a video of the rally recently went viral on social media, showing several individuals holding banners and chanting slogans in Sripur.
