30 machines , 2000 -feet pipes destroyed due to illegal extraction of sand in Feni river

Thirty machines and two thousand feet of plastic pipes were destroyed due to illegal sand mining in the Feni river on the border of Feni district.
Chagalnaia UNO Subal Chakma conducted the operation on the charges of illegal sand mining, environmental damage, destruction of cropland, destruction of human settlements and destruction of roads in Feni river from 3 pm to 5 pm last Friday. Huge quantity of illegally mined sand was seized during raids.
UNO Subal Chakma said, a mobile court operation was conducted against illegal extraction of sand from Feni river in Sonapur area of Chagalnaya upazila of Feni.
He said that illegal extraction of sand without following the rules of sand extraction is causing serious damage to the natural environment. The environment of the land is being destroyed. Various buildings including houses and agricultural land are disappearing under the river.
