20 AL leaders, activists sent to jail in Rajbari

A court in Rajbari has rejected the bail of 20 Awami League leaders and activists and sent them to jail in a case related to an attack on a student movement against discrimination.Judge Md. Tamjid Ahmed passed the order after 20 activists surrendered at the Rajbari District and Sessions Judge's Court on Sunday afternoon  and applied for bail.The accused sent to prison are Rajbari Municipality Ward No. 3 Councilor Saifuddin Ahmed Sujan, Sajjadul Kabir Jim, Ibrahim Mondal, Delwar Hossain Roni, Sohrab Ripon Molla, Roni, Amirul Islam, Ayub Sheikh, Pannu Sardar, and 20 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League.The case was filed by student Rajib Molla. Former MP Kazi Keramat Ali, District Awami League General Secretary Kazi Iradat Ali and 170 other leaders and activists were named as accused, while 300 others were named as unknown. The case was filed at Rajbari Sadar Police Station on August 30.Rajbari District and Sessions Judge Court PP Adv. Abdur Razzak said, the accused have disobeyed the High Court order and did not appear in the judge's court. When they appeared in the magistrate's court today, the judge sent them all to jail for disobeying the High Court order.
