2 held for rape, murder of disabled woman in Kurigram

Police arrested two men over the rape and murder of a mentally challenged woman at Rowmari upazila in Kurigram district on Monday.
The arrested men are Abul Kalam, 45, a resident of Boraikandi Mollapara and Lalku Miah, 46, a resident of Jograrsor village.
Earlier, police recovered the body of an unidentified mentally challenged woman from Boraikandi Bazar in front of Awami League office around 7:00 am on Monday.
Later, a village police named Bacchu Miah filed a murder case with a police station against unidentified people in the incident.
It was learnt that the woman had been living in Boraikandi bazar for one and a half years. On Monday morning, locals spotted the body and informed police while they were going to the mosque for Fazar prayer.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mominul Islam, additional police super of Rowmari Circle in Kurigram.
Police arrested the duo within 10 hours of the incident from Dhonarsor village under Datvanga union in the upazila, the police official added.
The arrested men confessed to their involvement in the incident, Mominul Islam said.
