1st meet  of Parliamentary Standing  Committee on Land  Ministry  held

The first meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land of the 12th Parliament was held on Sunday evening.

Saifuzzaman Chowdhury (Chattogram-13), Narayon Chandra Chanda (Khulna-5), Sagufta Yasmin (Munshiganj-2), Md Shahab Uddin (Maulvibazar-1), Benjir Ahmed (Dhaka-20), Anupam Shahjahan Joy (Tangail-8), Md. Ashrafuzzaman (Satkhira-2), Kohale Quddus (Women Seat-8), Ruma Chakroborty (Women Seat-39).

Another member of the committee is Md. Anwarul Azim (Anar) (Jhenaidah-4). [*was not present at today's meeting.

Land Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman, Chairman of Land Appeal Board AKM Shamimul Haque Siddique, Chairman of Land Reform Board Md Abdus Sabur Mondal, Director General of Land Record and Survey Department Anis Mahmud, and concerned officials under the Ministry of Land and concerned officials of Parliament Secretariat were present on the occasion.

The first meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad was held at the introductory session of the members present. Later, the overall activities of the Ministry of Land were discussed in the meeting, and Land Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman informed about the ongoing activities of the Ministry and its offices/agencies.

The members of the committee expressed their views on digital land service, protection of khas land, protection of agricultural land, Bangladesh digital survey, maintenance of water bodies, land law, and rules etc.

Committee member Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda, in his speech, highlighted various activities of the Ministry of Land to protect two and three crops of agricultural land for food security and environment protection.

Chairman of the committee Saifuzzaman Chowdhury stressed the need for issuing the rules of the Land Crime Prevention and Redress/Remedy Act quickly.

The meeting began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The meeting also paid solemn tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15, 1975 carnage, three million martyrs of the Liberation War, four national leaders and martyrs of the Language Movement.
