15 held in Rajshahi city, including 7 in Operation Devil Hunt

 A total of 15 people have been arrested in Rajshahi Metropolitan area, including 7 detained under the joint forces' special drive Operation Devil Hunt, and 8 more held in regular drives conducted by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and Detective Branch (DB) police on Saturday. 

Like elsewhere in the country, Operation Devil Hunt was conducted in Rajshahi city to prevent unrest and instability. Over the past 24 hours, seven people were arrested from various areas of the city in connection with allegations of attacks on the anti-discrimination student movement, explosions, terrorist activities, and other crimes. In addition, eight more individuals were arrested during RMP drives — among them, three in narcotics-related cases and five in connection with other crimes.

Those arrested under Operation Devil Hunt are:
Md Naimul Islam Naim (30), Md Siam Ali (34), S K N Arkan Uddin Bappi (49), Md Chanchal (32), Md Sakib Habib (49), Md Tanvir Hasan Sajib (32), and Md Shafiqul Rahman Nobel (35).

Naimul Islam is the son of late Abu Taher from Rajarhata area under Boalia Model Police Station in Rajshahi city. He is the former general secretary of Rajshahi College and Rajshahi City College.

Siam Ali, son of Md Manzur Ali from the same area, is a former joint secretary of the BCL Rajshahi City College unit.

Arkan Uddin, son of late Ansar Uddin Anfor, hails from Kumarpara area under the same police station. He is the former publication and organizing secretary of Jubo League's Rajshahi metropolitan unit.

Chanchal is the son of late Saidul Islam from Ramchandrapur area. He is the former publicity secretary of Awami League’s Ward-24 unit in Rajshahi city.

Sakib, son of Md Habibur Rahman, is from Laxmipur Greater Road area under Rajpara Police Station. He is the former joint secretary of Swechchhasebak League’s Rajshahi city unit.

Tanvir Hasan, an Awami League activist, is the son of late Abu Khayer from Rajarhata area.
Shafiqul Rahman, son of late Akbar Hossain alias Akbar, is from Hetemkha Sabzipara area.

Legal action has been taken against the arrestees.
