13 drug peddlers, including women, arrested in RMP anti-drug drives in Rajshahi

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP)—through separate anti-narcotics drives conducted by Motihar, Boalia, Shahmakhdum, Chandrima, Belpukuria police stations and the Talaimari police outpost—arrested 13 drug peddlers, including women, and recovered ganja, yaba tablets, tapentadol tablets, cash, and mobile phones.
The drives were carried out across various locations in the metropolis on Friday.
As part of the operations, Motiha arrested Mst. Komela Begum (52), daughter of the late Nur Mohammad of Satbaria village, at around 7:45 PM. Police recovered 35 grams of ganja meant for sale and seized Tk 545 in cash from her possession.
Around 11:45 PM, Boalia police conducted a drive on the pavement in front of the City College hostel, north of the Rajshahi Central Shaheed Minar in the Rajarhata area, and arrested Md. Firoz Ali (19), son of Altaf Pramanik from Naupara village in Bagmara upazila, Rajshahi. Police noted that two associates—Md. Tauhidul Islam (35) of Gomastapur, Chapainawabganj, and Sohag Sarkar (32) of Malopara, Boalia—managed to flee the scene. Officers recovered 29 yaba tablets and seized one mobile phone used for drug transactions from Firoz Ali.
Meanwhile, around 1:45 AM, Shahmakhdum police arrested eight individuals in the Poba Notunpara area: Md. Nasim Hossain (28), Md. Iman Ali (28), Md. Jahangir Alam (25), Rikta Akhter (23), Md. Samrat (29), Md. Tannin Hossain (23), Md. Shihab Uddin (22), and Md. Golam Rabbi (22). A total of 20 yaba tablets were recovered from their possession.
Around 9:00 PM, Chandrima police arrested Mst. Soniya Akhter (28) in the Meherchandi Uttarpara area, recovering 18 yaba tablets from her. Additionally, at around 5:15 PM, the Chandrima police's Talaimari outpost arrested Md. Manik Mia (25) in Meherchandi Purba Para and recovered 10 tapentadol tablets.
Furthermore, around 1:45 AM, Belpukuria police arrested Md. Soibur Ali alias Sobuj (23) near the Belpukuria rail gate and recovered 5 tapentadol tablets.
Separate cases under the Narcotics Control Act have been filed against the arrested individuals at the respective police stations, and they have been sent to jail through the court. Police operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
