Wife arrested for allegedly cutting off husband's private parts while he sleeping over extramarital affair in Mirsarai

A woman has been accused of cutting off her sleeping husband's private parts over an affair in Mirsarai Upazila of Chittagong.
The incident took place at around 6 am on Thursday in the North Sonapahar area of Bariyarhat Municipality of the upazila. The husband, Mohammad Russell, has been admitted to the hospital in a serious condition. The police have taken the accused wife, Moni, into custody.
According to local sources, Mohammad Russell, a resident of Sonapahar area of the upazila and a pickup driver, had been having a long-standing marital dispute with a woman over allegations of extramarital affairs. The couple slept together on Wednesday night. According to the complaint, sometime during the night, while Russell was sleeping, his wife Moni tied his hands and feet, cut the veins under his left ankle with a sharp knife, and beat him indiscriminately on his private parts. Russell was seriously injured.
Family members rescued him and first took him to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. According to doctors, his physical condition is critical.
In this regard, Jorarganj Police Station OC Abdul Halim said that it was initially reported that the incident took place over a family dispute and allegations of extramarital affairs.
