Zahid Hasan Farhad, General Secretary of Pogaldigha Union Jubo Dal, has allegedly cut  half-ripe paddy from one  bigha of cropland in Sarishabari, Jamalpur. The incident took place in Brahmanjani area of Pogaldigha Union of the upazila.

According to the complaint filed by the farmer's family and the police station and local sources, Abdur Rauf, son of Abdul Latif of Pogaldigha Union, purchased 33 percent of the land in 1984. They had been cultivating the land since the purchase. Recently, the people of Union Jubo Dal General Secretary Zahid Hasan Farhad claimed that the land they had bought was theirs for the past two years. On that claim, they planted Boro rice planted by Abdur Rauf on the land. On April 19, Pogaldigha Union Jubo Dal General Secretary Farhad Hossain and his associates cut the raw Boro rice from that land.

Later, when the victim farmer Abdur Rouf protested after receiving the news, a dispute arose between the two. Later, the followers of Jubo Dal leader Farhad beat up Rouf's brother Farid Member over this dispute. Due to this incident, Farid Member's people beat up Farhad in Raghunathpur area on Tuesday afternoon and injured him. At that time, locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. He is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Farmer Abdur Rouf said, "I have been occupying 33 percent of my land from Abdul Aziz and Abdur Rashid, sons of the deceased Golap Sarkar, neighbors of the same village, in 1984, by using the BRS record as a 'sub-kawla' document. Recently, followers of Gias and Farhad Hossain of Takuria village have been trying to seize my occupied land. In continuation of this, on April 19, they cut the semi-ripe paddy planted for the current Boro season. I did not get justice through the village. So I complained to the police station."

In this regard, accused Farhad Hossain said, "A record-breaking case is ongoing in the court regarding this land. They forcibly occupied our land and planted paddy. We do not want any dispute. We want our rightful land back."

In this regard, Sarishabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Chand Mia said, "We have received complaints from both sides. Legal action will be taken after investigation."
