Alhaj Alamgir Muhammad Mahafuz Ullah Farid, newly elected Member of Parliament for the Moheshkhali-Kutubdia (Cox's Bazar-2) constituency, has declared that his primary legislative mission is the implementation of a permanent bridge connecting Moheshkhali to the Cox's Bazar mainland.
The MP made the remarks during a grand reception and Iftar mahfil organized in his honour on Thursday afternoon at the Ila Community Center under Moheshkhali Municipality.
The event was hosted by Bright-92 Ekta Samavaya Samiti Ltd., a cooperative organization formed by the SSC 1992 batch of Moheshkhali Adarsh High School.
Addressing a packed audience of educators, journalists, and local dignitaries, MP Alamgir Farid—now serving his third term—expressed deep gratitude to the people of his constituency.
"The demand for a bridge across the Moheshkhali-Cox's Bazar waterway is a matter of safety and economic survival for our residents," the lawmaker stated. "Beyond this landmark project, I urge all citizens to collaborate on improving our education sector, maintaining law and order, and modernizing our overall communication infrastructure."
The program, chaired by Bright-92 President Ekramul Haque and moderated by members Aminul Haque and Mahabub Alam, served a dual purpose: celebrating the electoral victory and honoring the community’s roots. Wreaths and commemorative crests were presented to the MP on behalf of the cooperative.
The ceremony also included a solemn segment dedicated to the batch's history. Earlier in the day, a Khatme Quran and special prayers (Dua) were held for the souls of deceased former students and for the recovery of those currently battling illness.
The event saw a significant turnout of high-ranking officials and political figures, reflecting a broad spectrum of local leadership, including Abul Hashem, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Planning, Abdus Sultan, OC , Moheshkhali Police Station, Adv Nurul Alam, Vice President, Cox’s Bazar District BNP. Dr. Mahafuzul Haque, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer and Alhaj Md Shah Alam, former Headmaster, Moheshkhali Adarsh High School.
Other notable attendees included former Upazila Parishad Chairmen Mohammad Zainal Abedin and Mohammad Zahir Uddin, along with heads of various local educational institutions and veteran student leaders.
In his closing remarks, Bright-92 President Ekramul Haque reaffirmed the cooperative's commitment to social welfare. "Our organization is not just a network of former classmates; we are a dedicated force for the overall development of Moheshkhali. We will stand as a support system for every initiative that moves our region forward," he said.
The formal session concluded with a prayer led by Maulana Abu Chayed of Putibila Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasah, followed by the Iftar mahfil.
