'That's why students shouting ': Headmaster takes exams as he pleases

Students were shouting, so the headmaster took the exam at any time he wanted. Such allegations have been made against the headmasters of the Kanchannagar Rustamiya Government Primary School in Fatikchhari. This incident has created widespread discontent among parents and locals.

Parents complained that teachers take students' notebooks at least half an hour before the scheduled time and dismiss them without completing the exam. This deprives the candidates of the opportunity to answer questions for full marks.

On Wednesday (  August 27)  it was observed that on the last day of the second semester exams, the religious and moral education exam was scheduled to be held from 1:30 PM to 4 PM, but the picture was different at the school. The exam books were closed at 3:12 PM and the students were dismissed.

Although the duration of the second semester exam is set at 2 hours and 30 minutes according to the policies of the Department of Primary Education, students in that school were not allowed to take the exam for more than 2 hours.

Rihan, a fourth-grade student, said, "We give them notebooks when the teachers tell us to. We can't write complete answers to questions in them."

Mukta Moni, mother of Mahfuza, a student in the same class, expressed her anger and said, "Teachers are taking away the rights of students. If they cannot give exams on time, it will fail to develop the talent of the students. It is important that school activities are conducted within a specific policy."

When asked about this, the school's headmaster, Faruk Azam, said on the phone, "The students are shouting and screaming, so we give them leave after taking the exam a little earlier or later." However, when asked if there is a rule to finish the exam early, he could not give a good answer.

Despite attempts to contact the Upazila Primary Education Officer (Acting), Hasan Murad Chowdhury, regarding the complaint, he could not be reached.

Fatikchhari UNO Md. Muzammel Haque Chowdhury said, the matter is very sad. Such irregularities in the educational process are in no way acceptable. We will investigate and take necessary action. The interests of students come first, teachers cannot do anything that harms them.
