'Our Barishal, we will clean it': BNP leader Rahmatullah's exceptional initiative to prevent dengue

An exceptional cleanliness drive has been launched in Barisal with the aim of creating public awareness to prevent dengue and the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, as well as building a clean Barisal.

The program was implemented in front of Hatem Ali College in Barisal at 3:30 pm on Friday (August 21). Local leaders, activists, volunteers and people from different classes and professions participated in the cleanliness drive organized under the leadership of BNP National Executive Committee member Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah.

The main objective of the program, organized with the motto 'Our Barisal, we will clean it', was to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, the main carrier of dengue, remove garbage and garbage, and increase cleanliness and health awareness among the general public.

As part of the program, cleanliness activities were conducted in Hatem Ali College, Chowmatha Bazar and various surrounding areas. During this, garbage accumulated in various places was cleaned and potential breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes were identified and removed.

Participants in this program, implemented in collaboration with the voluntary organization BD Clean, urged everyone to keep their areas clean and be aware of dengue prevention.

Speaking at the program, Rahmatullah said that not only the administration's initiative, but also the collective participation of city residents is essential in preventing dengue. It is possible to control the spread of Aedes mosquitoes to a great extent by keeping our homes, businesses and surrounding environments clean.

Expressing hope to transform the cleanliness drive into a regular social movement, he further said that city residents must play a responsible role from their respective positions to make Barisal clean and mosquito-free.

Also present at the program were Hatem Ali College Principal Professor Akhtaruzzaman Khan, BD Clean's advisor Khorshed Alam, associate professor of physics at Barisal University, and advisor Akbar Chowdhury, Somoy Television's bureau chief Apurva Apu, BD Clean's Barisal Divisional Coordinator Zayed Irfan, Co-Divisional Coordinator Arif Hossain, Barguna Additional Coordinator Ibrahim Masum, members Md. Ittesaf and Rafi Sikder, Barisal Metropolitan BNP member Zahidur Rahman Ripon, Metropolitan Volunteer Party Senior Joint Convener Tariq Sulaiman, Metro Swechchhasebak Dal Joint Convener Milon Chowdhury, Independence Forum Metropolitan Member Secretary Nazmus Shakib, BM College Chhatra Dal leader Akbar Mubin, other leaders and activists, leaders of BNP affiliate organizations, and members of BD Clean.
