The ‘Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Knockout Prize Money Football Tournament’ has kicked off in a festive atmosphere in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar. Organized by Banashree Kreerachakra of Sonarupa Tea Estate, the tournament features 32 teams from different upazilas of Moulvibazar district.

The tournament was formally inaugurated at 3:00 pm on Sunday at the football ground of Sonarupa Tea Estate in Purba Juri Union. The inauguration ceremony was marked by enthusiasm and excitement among local sports enthusiasts.
Moulvibazar-1 (Barlekha-Juri) Constituency MP Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mithu addressed the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Special guests were Juri UNO Md. Fazle Rabbani Chowdhury, UHFO Dr. Samarjit Singha, and Sonarupa Tea Estate Manager Shah Mohammad Kamal.

Juri Upazila BNP General Secretary Motiur Rahman Chunu, Senior Vice-President and Goalbari Union Parishad Chairman Md. Abdul Kayum, former Joint General Secretary of the upazila BNP Nazmul Islam, Upazila Krishak Dal President Haji Abdul Kayum, Juri Police Station Sub-Inspector Kabir Uddin and Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamsuzzaman were present.

According to the organizers, BNP leader Motiur Rahman Chunu is serving as the chief patron of the tournament. A total of 32 teams from different upazilas of Moulvibazar district are competing in this year's edition. The teams will compete in a knockout format, aiming to secure the championship title.

The organizers said the tournament was arranged to promote football at the grassroots level, provide opportunities for emerging talented players and encourage young people to become more involved in sports.

They expressed hope that the event would bring renewed enthusiasm to the local sporting arena and further strengthen the culture of sports among young people.
