Dohar (Dhaka) Correspondent
The UNO has rescued more than three hundred people trapped in waterlogging in Dohar.
On Wednesday at 11 am, the administration started the ongoing emergency water drainage activities by deploying manpower from its own funds to drain water in the Kutibari and Bangar Char areas of Ward No. 3 of Doha Municipality.
While talking to locals, it was learned that the continuous rains over the past few days have caused waterlogging in the Kutibari and Bangarchar areas of the municipality.
This has caused extreme suffering to the local residents.
Upon learning of the matter, Dohar UNO and Municipal Administrator Maidul Islam and Municipality Executive Engineer Md. Mamunur Rashid held an emergency meeting.
As per the decision of the meeting, they started constructing drains for emergency water drainage to free the water-trapped families.
Mahbubur Rahman Tipu, senior vice-president of Doha Press Club, said that due to filling up most of the canals of the municipality, all the drainage routes have been blocked. Along with this, continuous rains and the water used by residents living in the suburbs have created this waterlogging. About three hundred families are living an inhuman life due to the waterlogging caused by this.
